The Fourth Annual ANIBIC Golf Outing was a sterling success due to those who participated as golfers, sponsors and volunteers.
The day dawned brightly on Lido Beach, a rarity this summer! Gulls floated overhead, darting and feinting out over the party boats drifting for fluke, grabbing the occasional piece of discarded bait in the air. Into this tranquil scene the golfers began to arrive at the Lido Golf Club in Long Beach, NY.
Each golfer drove up to the check-in table, gave his/her clubs to the attendant, went into the dining room for breakfast and then off to the range to hit a bucket or to the putting green.
The course was in as decent a shape as possible after a spring and summer of near constant rain. The 16th hole still offered one of golf’s true challenges, a par 5 that forces a golfer to carry water two times to get to a green well protected by bunkers. The 7th is a deceptively short par 3 where the wind off Reynold’s Channel pushes and swirls what might otherwise look like a nice golf shot.
At 12:45 PM the 66 golfers who attended were summoned to their carts and given the rules of the day. Eighteen holes later after a full day of golf and food and drink on the golf course, our dauntless warriors returned to the clubhouse where cocktails and a terrific dinner awaited them. Prizes and awards were handed out, including two airline tickets on JetBlue, which were part of the raffle.
It was a fun day and the proceeds of the 2009 golf outing will help to supplement ANIBIC’s residential program.

In addition we will raffle off two tickets to anywhere that JetBlue flies!
Plan to join us in September 2010. The date will be announced right after the New Year.
